Bulletin 04: Intentions to be active and personal control over choice to be active

Summary

A number of research studies have shown strong associations between intention and perceived behavioural control in adults with leisure-time walking and overall physical activity. The 2007 Physical Activity Monitor explored Canadians’ intentions to be physically active in the near future (six months following the survey). The majority of Canadians intend to be active, as illustrated in Figure 1.
