On behalf of the Board of Directors of the 2010 International Congress on Physical Activity and Public Health I would like to thank the 1200 delegates from more than 48 countries who attended the Congress and who participated in the 5 keynote addresses, the 28 symposia, the 6 Pre-Congress Workshops, and the 525 poster and 48 oral presentations. Hopefully, the knowledge exchanged and the social networking that occurred will have a lasting impact on the advancement of physical activity around the world.
A special thanks goes to Dr. Fiona Bull and Dr. Lise Gauvin and their writing team that produced the "Toronto Charter for Physical Activity: A Global Call to Action". This will be one of the lasting legacies from the Congress. Based on the enthusiastic ratification by the delegates at the closing session, the Charter is now positioned to provide global leaders with a strong rationale and key guidelines for implementing new and innovative physical activity policies and programs.
Please visit our website for further announcements about the Charter, and about the publication date of the special issue of the Journal of Physical Activity and Public Health which will include the Keynote presentations, the Charter, and a summary of each Symposium.
Finally, within a week we will be mounting photographs taken during the Congress so that all delegates can view a replay of the events in Toronto.
